DIY Remedies for Acne Scars
- Turmeric and Yogurt Mask
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of turmeric
2 tbsp. of plain yogurt
Method:
Mix turmeric and yogurt into a smooth paste.
Apply to acne spots or the whole face.
Let it be for 15 minutes and then wash off.
Advantages: Turmeric fades dark spots and yogurt exfoliates using alpha hydroxyl acids, that are a form of lactic acid.
- Lemon and Honey Brightening Treatment
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon of honey
How to do it:
Mix lemon juice and honey.
Dab onto dark spots using a cotton swab.
Leave for 10 minutes and rinse off (apply sunscreen after).
Benefits: Lemon brightens the skin, and honey soothes and hydrates.
- Aloe Vera and Vitamin E Gel
Ingredients are required in the following:
2 tablespoons fresh aloe vera gel.
1 Vitamin E capsule.
How to do it: Place one Vitamin E capsule in 2 tablespoons of aloe vera gel. Squeeze out the Vitamin E liquid and mix it with aloe vera gel. Apply that mixture to the acne spots. Let it stay there overnight.
Advantages: This cures and fades away spots over time.
- Rice Water Ice Cubes for Spots
Ingredients:
Rice water preparation by soaking
Ice cube tray
Pour rice water into an ice cube tray and freeze.
Rub an ice cube on acne spots in circular motions for 1–2 minutes.
Benefits: Brightens dark spots and improves skin texture.
- Cleanse: The face twice a day using a gentle, noncomedogenic cleanser.
- Exfoliate: Natural exfoliants: Use oatmeal or the homemade sugar scrub which has 1 part of sugar and 2 parts honey on the face twice in a week to remove the dead skin cells.
- Noncomedogenic Products
Choose products bearing the labels “noncomedogenic” as this would mean that the skincare and makeup products won’t clog pores.
- Moisturize with Lightweight Moisturizer
This is for hydrated oily skin. Select those gel moisturizers with hyaluronic acid.
- Sunblock
Always use sunblock sunscreen with at least SPF 30. Thus, avoid darkening the acne scars.
- Healthy Diet
Avoid too much sugar, dairy, and processed foods, which induce acne. Add leafy greens, nuts, and water rich fruits for clear skin.
Combining these at home remedies and good skincare routines can greatly reduce acne and fade dark spots over time.
Consistency is key so give these treatments 4–6 weeks to start noticing improvements.
